HOUSE:

Cookie Collection

FROSTING:

Beat all of the ingredients in a medium bowl until smooth and thick. Spoon into a freezer-weight resealable bag or an airtight container to prevent frosting from drying.
Or, for the less inspired, buy a container of pre-made frosting.

DECORATIONS:

SUPPLIES

Follow these step-by-step instructions to make your house.

PART 1: BUILDING THE FOUNDATION

PART 1

BUILDING THE FOUNDATION

  1. Carefully open each of the boxes from one short end. Remove the cookies and the white paper trays.
  2. Stand each box up on the unopened short end and tape or staple the large sides together to make the house-base shape.
  3. For the roof, measure and mark 5 ½ inches up from each of the four corner assembly. Using scissors or a small serrated knife, cut down along each corner to that mark.
  4. Fold the wide sides of the boxes along the 5 ½-inch line and tape them to the center of the boxes.

PART 2: BUILDING THE WALLS & ROOF

PART 2

BUILDING THE WALLS & ROOF

  1. Use a ruler and mark the roof line on the uncut side of the boxes. Use the scissors to cut the peaks from the top of the box.
  2. Cover the box assembly with heavy-duty aluminum foil and tape to secure.
  3. Open and flatten the inside white cookie box trays and tape the long sides of the boxes together, overlapping about 2 inches. Mark and cut into a 6 x 11-inch rectangle. Fold in half crosswise. Flatten and cover with heavy-duty aluminum foil. (Do not attach the cardboard roof until the base of house is covered with cookies.)

PART 3: DECORATING

PART 3

DECORATING

  1. Spread a thin layer of the frosting on one side of the box. Press the Bordeaux cookies on the side to cover, trimming the cookies if necessary. Let frosting set about 30 minutes. Repeat process to the other 3 sides of the box to cover completely with Bordeaux cookies. Let house dry about 2 hours.
  2. Meanwhile attach the roof with the frosting. Spoon some of the frosting into a freezer-weight resealable bag. Snip a small corner from the bag. Pipe lines of frosting at the bottom edge of the roof and attach 4 of the Chessmen cookies, side by side. Repeat the process, overlapping each row slightly, to cover the roof top. Repeat on the other side of the roof. Allow the house to dry at least 2 hours before adding the candies and cookies.
  3. Cut 2 Brussels cookies in half with a serrated knife to make the windows.
  4. Cut 2 of the candy canes into four 2-inch pieces for the base of the windows. Remove the curve from one of the candy canes for the roof line.
  5. Use some of the frosting to attach the cookie windows, the Milano cookie door, the candy canes, candy door knob, gum drops and jelly wreath. Pipe extra spots of the frosting to make the icicles.
  6. Arrange 2 Milano cookies as the steps and the Geneva cookies as the path. Sprinkle coconut around the house. Add the Ginger Family.

Add to the scene by making two trees, a light post and a cute sleigh!

For all 4 decorations, you’ll need about 2 cups additional frosting. Use 1 package (16 ounces) confectioners' sugar, 3 tablespoons meringue powder and 6 tablespoons warm water. Beat the confectioners' sugar, meringue powder and water in a large bowl with an electric mixer on medium-high speed for 3 minutes or until the mixture is thick and creamy. Spoon the icing into an airtight container. Keep covered when not in use.

GOLDFISH® GRAHAMS TREES

  1. Working on one tree at a time, sort the different flavored Goldfish Grahams.
  2. Spread an even layer of the frosting all over an ice cream cone.
  3. Starting at the base, press like flavored cookies, tails down into the frosting. Repeat more rows, overlapping slightly, until the entire cone is covered.
  4. Repeat with the remaining cookies and cones. Spoon any excess frosting into a freezer-weight resealable bag. Snip a small corner and pipe patches of snow on the trees.
  5. Let trees dry about 1 hour before moving.

MILANO® COOKIE SLEIGH

pepperidge-farm
  1. Trim the candy canes with a serrated knife to be about 2 inches longer than the Milano cookie.
  2. Attach the candy canes lengthwise to the Milano cookie, as the skis of the sleigh with the frosting. Allow to dry about 1 hour.

CANDY CANE LIGHT POST
